Best Apps For DJ Mixing: Mix On The Move!

I love using DJ apps on my phone - it can be a lot of fun on long journeys or waiting around. Thanks to the power of mobile tech, I can easily create decent mixes without needing any equipment other than a touchscreen - mixing on the move!

While there are some brilliant apps out there, in my experience, it's clear that not all music mixer apps are equal - some can be a total pain and don't necessarily give you the direct and quick access that you might need.

Whether you're in the professional DJ world or you just like to mix music for fun, this article will help you find the perfect DJ-mixing app for your needs!

TL;DR - DJ Mixer Apps#

  • There are loads of great mobile DJing apps out there, but I think some should be avoided...
  • I look for a clean, comfortable user interface, fun features, and fair prices.

  • Some of my favorite mobile DJ apps include Edjing, Algoriddim DJay, Rekordbox Mobile, and DJ.Studio

The Top 6 Best DJ Apps for Mobile - Android and iOs#

Over the years, I've tried pretty much everything the iOS and Android stores offer in terms of music and DJing apps - and now I'm going to share my thoughts with you, let's have a look at some of the DJ mixer apps out there.

1) DJ.Studio - iOS/Android Web App#

> Download DJ.Studio Today<

This cutting-edge DJ tool gives you a unique way to make DJ mixes with easy transitions on the go. It's designed for controllerless mixing, so it's truly portable.

  • A unique timeline & playlist-mixing interface

  • Useful auto mixer with harmonic and beat matching

  • Create more detailed, pro-sounding mixes than with standard DJ apps

Rather than being a standard mixer and decks-type interface, it instead uses a timeline and playlist/carousel. It's more of a 'mix builder' than a performance tool.

While I do like messing around on the decks-type software, I find a phone screen too small and fiddly to really achieve a decent-sounding performance. That's why I think DJ.Studio stands out - it isn't trying to be something that doesn't suit the mobile format.

You can mix your own music library downloads, and there are some cool integrations with other platforms. It is one of the best must-have DJ tools.

While the downloadable mobile app isn't released, there is still a fully featured web app that you can use on your mobile browser - Try DJ.Studio Mobile Here!

2) Edjing Mix - iOS / Android#

Edjing is a longstanding name in the mobile DJing scene and lets you mix your favorite music with some stylish tools.

As far as traditional DJing apps go, Edjing Mix is a popular choice. It's been around for as long as I can remember, I'm pretty sure it's nearly 10 years old now.

It really has all you need for performance-style mixing - two decks, a mixer with EQ, filters, effects, a clean library manager, beatmatching, and more. It even has hardware integration so you can control it with some USB decks which is pretty cool.

3) WeDJ - iOS / Android#

WeDJ, a streamlined and beginner-friendly DJ app developed by the same parent company as Rekordbox and Pioneer, allows you to effortlessly mix your favorite songs. It even supports mixing tracks from Beatport Streaming and Soundcloud Go+.

I'm particularly impressed with the user interface of WeDJ. It's visually appealing and intuitive, making it a breeze to use. Additionally, being developed by Alpha Theta, a company I'm a big fan of, adds to its credibility.

4) DJ Rekordbox App iOS / Android#

Rekordbox is one of my favorite bits of laptop DJing software, and the free app on mobile is a welcome addition.

I've always recomended rekordbox as a piece of software to remix songs and record mixes - whether you're a new DJ or a pro. It gives you the option of HD recording, which is not always available. The mobile app version is a great tool, and has all the tools you need, and some cool sound effects.

5) Cross DJ - iOS / Android#

Cross DJ is a straightforward DJ app that allows you to mix, scratch, and play your tracks just like a DJ, wherever you are.

I've tried Cross DJ on several occasions, and I must say it delivers a fairly good experience, despite some limitations in terms of UI quality and performance. That said, it does what you need it to.

6) Alogriddim djay - iOS / Android#

This comprehensive DJ app provides all the essential tools for creating mixes, and it also includes a variety of exciting additional features!

Although I'm not particularly fond of the pricing structure or the design of the app, I still find Algoriddim djay to be a useful tool.

It also has quite a nice layout, looking like a digital vinyl system, which is satisfying to look at.

Why I Enjoy Mobile DJing Apps#

Investing in mobile DJ apps can significantly enhance your DJing flexibility and creativity:

  1. Portability: Mix on the go without the need for bulky equipment.

  2. Convenience: Perfect for impromptu sessions during travels or gatherings.

  3. Accessibility: Easy to use for beginners and offers quick experimentation for seasoned DJs.

  4. Integration: Connect with streaming services to access a vast library of tracks.

So there you have it, here are 6 of the best mobile DJ software out there. Unfortunately, they do not have the ability for video mixing when thinking about music videos, but for mobile apps, they do a pretty good job.

Having a reliable mobile DJ app ensures you're always prepared to create and perform, no matter where you are.

There are just a few apps that you can use, although none of the above are open source DJ software, it is worth doing some more research into this to see what is out there.
