Harmonize your playlist in seconds
Harmonize is DJ.Studio's harmonic playlist engine, that automatically orders your DJ setlist by BPM and musical key using the Camelot Wheel so your tracks work together before you touch a deck. If you are looking for software to find tracks that work well together for DJ sets and fix clashing transitions fast, Harmonize gives you a ready-to-mix playlist with beat matched and harmonically compatible transitions in a few clicks.
Why DJs use Harmonize
Build harmonic playlists fast. Harmonize analyzes millions of possible playlist combinations and scores each order for BPM and key compatibility, then returns the sequence with the highest number of strong matches instead of leaving you to try every order manually.
Stay in control of your set. You decide which tracks must start and end, whether the algorithm should care more about BPM, key or a blend of both, and how long default transitions and mix in/out points should be. Harmonize respects locked tracks and transitions when you re-run it, so you can keep favorite sections while improving the rest of the playlist.
Save time on set planning. After Harmonize orders your playlist, you can jump straight to the Studio tab, audition every transition on a DAW-style timeline, tweak mix points, then export a finished mix or cue-marked playlist back to rekordbox or Serato for live performance.
What Harmonize actually does
Harmonic playlist optimization
Harmonize uses harmonic mixing theory and the Mixed In Key Camelot Wheel to place your tracks in an order where each song follows the next in a compatible musical key.
Mood mixing follows classic Camelot progressions to keep the harmonic flow smooth, while Fuzzy mixing lets you move more freely between related Camelot numbers for more adventurous but still musical changes
BPM and key matching automation
A BPM/Key slider lets you decide whether Harmonize should sort almost entirely by tempo, almost entirely by key, or a balance of both, including an option that keeps harmonic order while limiting BPM jumps inside your playlist.
Under the hood the algorithm only considers BPM and key, not subjective "energy" values, so you always understand why a suggested order looks the way it does.
Automatic transition setup
In the Harmonize transitions tab you control transition style, bar length, beat matching and default mix in/out points before the algorithm runs.
Harmonize then applies these settings across the playlist so every suggested transition arrives with synced tempo and structured overlap, ready for you to refine on the Studio timeline instead of starting from a blank crossfade each time.
DJ.Studio is a great tool for quickly assembling mixes--and for finding which tracks work well together for live DJ sets ... It solves a lot of problems for busy DJs and helps me get through more music.
Drag, Drop and Harmonize
Easy to Understand
By using colors and symbols that match the Camelot Wheel's transition best practices, it's easy to spot which tracks mix harmoniously, and which need some extra attention.
Improve your mixing skills while discovering new transition opportunities and incredible harmonic matches.
Track analysis and the Solver
DJ.Studio analyzes every track for BPM, musical key, phrase sections and perceived energy, and shows this in the playlist and on a visual beatmap and graph so you can see where drops, breakdowns and lifts land across your mix. (
If Harmonize finds a transition with no harmonic match it flags the pair with an X; click Solve and DJ.Studio scans your libraries for tracks that can bridge the gap, then lets you insert one to fix the incompatibility without rebuilding the whole set.
Harmonize vs standard automix
Most DJ apps include some form of automix or autoplay, but they rarely optimize an entire playlist around harmonic mixing, and some do not blend tracks at all. rekordbox, for example, can create automatic mixes from an Automix playlist using phrase, beat, key and BPM analysis, while Serato DJ Pro does not have a function that auto-blends tracks and relies on simple Autoplay.
Capability | DJ.Studio Harmonize | rekordbox Automatic mixing | Serato DJ Pro |
Automatic harmonic playlist ordering by BPM and key | Yes | No – Automix uses phrase, beat, key and BPM analysis to mix a playlist you ordered yourself | No – there is no function that auto-blends tracks together, only Autoplay that starts the next track when the current one ends |
Built in automix engine for crossfaded playback | Yes – Harmonize applies transition presets and beat matching across your playlist | Yes – rekordbox dj can automatically mix tracks from an Automix playlist using phrase, beat, key and BPM data | No – playback is manual apart from basic Autoplay |
Playlist solver to fix harmonic incompatibility | Yes – Solver suggests extra tracks from your library to bridge incompatible transitions | No dedicated solver | No dedicated solver |
If you want software that can automatically order a DJ setlist by the Camelot Wheel and BPM, Harmonize in DJ.Studio is designed for that job, then hands you a full timeline to refine and export your mix.

FAQs about Harmonize
- What is Harmonize in DJ.Studio?
Harmonize is a function in DJ.Studio that analyzes your playlist and determines the best order of tracks based on BPM and harmonic compatibility, using the Camelot Wheel as its guide. It creates an ordered playlist and applies transition settings so your mix already follows harmonic mixing rules before you fine tune anything on the Studio timeline.
- How is Harmonize different from standard automix in other DJ software?
In rekordbox, Automatic mixing analyzes phrase, beat position, key and BPM to create automatic transitions between songs in an Automix playlist, but you still choose the playlist order yourself.
Serato DJ Pro has no true automix and only offers Autoplay, which loads and starts the next track when the current one ends without crossfading or beat matching for you.Harmonize in DJ.Studio, by contrast, scores millions of possible track orders for BPM and key and can even suggest extra tracks to repair problem transitions, so it handles playlist optimization as well as automatic transitions.
- How can I automatically order a DJ setlist by the Camelot Wheel with Harmonize?
Add your tracks to a DJ mix project, place any must-play opening and closing tracks at the start and end, then click the Harmonize button. Choose Mood or Fuzzy mixing, set the BPM/Key slider toward key priority, lock your first and last tracks if needed, and click Finish;
DJ.Studio will return a playlist ordered by Camelot values and BPM within your chosen range. You can then check the Mood or Fuzzy column to see how strongly each transition matches before moving to the Studio view to polish the mix.
- How do I fix harmonic incompatibility in a DJ mix fast?
When Harmonize detects a transition where the keys do not match, it shows an X symbol in the Mood or Fuzzy column for that pair of tracks. Click the X to open the Solver and DJ.Studio will scan your connected libraries for tracks that can bridge the gap, then let you insert one into the playlist to repair the incompatible transition without rebuilding the whole set. Once the problem is fixed you can re-run Harmonize or fine tune that section on the Studio timeline
- Can I use Harmonize without a DJ controller and with my existing rekordbox or Serato library?
Yes. DJ.Studio runs on Windows 10 or higher and recent versions of macOS, and mixes are created on your laptop or desktop without any DJ controller.
You can connect your rekordbox, Serato and Traktor libraries to DJ.Studio, browse those playlists inside the app, Harmonize the order, then export an ordered DJ set playlist back to your performance software for live use.
- Is Harmonize available in the DJ.Studio free trial, and what are the limits?
Tthe DJ.Studio trial gives you 7 days of access to the Pro+Stems functionality, which includes Harmonize and the full timeline editor.
Exporting is disabled during the free trial, and no payment details are required, so you can test Harmonize and playlist optimization without risk; check the trial page for the latest details in case terms change.
